Tips
Acrylic
- Don’t mix acrylic systems from different brands. Each line is formulated to work best with its own monomer and powder.
- Every nail tech’s environment is different. Adjust your liquid to powder ratio based on temperature and it makes a big difference!
- When working with slower-setting acrylics, use that time to perfect your apex and blend your cuticle area smoothly.
Application
- For beginners, use smaller beads of acrylic. It gives you more control and helps prevent bulky or uneven nails.
- Two bead method!! One of the easiest methods to start off with. The first bead will be a bit bigger, start right where the tip is blending into the natural nail bed. Work the acrylic down the rest of the nail. The second bead is your cuticle bead. This is going right below the cuticle. Blend it up to the cuticle and blend it down to the rest of the nail.
- Perfect your apex application.
Prep
- Use a good quality primer.
- Diamond bites for cuticle work, perfect your technique.
- When using nail tips, be sure to file and blend the tip into the natural nail using a fine sanding band/hand file.
- Remove all oils from the nail!! Don’t touch the nail bed after you prep. We don’t want any oils on there.
Brushes
- Wipe your brush often between beads to avoid product buildup on your brush, it keeps your acrylic application buttery smooth.
- Keep your brush clean and shaped, a good brush can make even budget friendly acrylics perform like a high end system.
- Nail Art Brushes: Clean them right after you use them. Don’t give it time to dry and get gross. Link free wipe with a bit of alcohol will do the trick.
